Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Barry Louis Obie, affectionately known as Mr. Obie, embodies what it means to lead a life of service. After more than 21 years of distinguished duty in the U.S. Air Force, Barry transitioned into civilian aviation as a UPS Captain, logging over 8,000 flight hours while continuing to mentor and inspire future generations.

A charter member of our NOVA Alumni Chapter, Barry chairs Fundraising and Annual Giving, serves as a Certified Aggie Recruiter, and led the effort to establish and fully fund a $25,000 university endowment in just four months. His impact reaches far beyond fundraising, through youth mentorship, aviation education, community service, and faith-based outreach that supports hundreds of families each month.

Barry’s dedication to A&T and to developing others reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence and service. His leadership leaves a lasting impression on everyone he encounters.
